Looking for something for your kids to do? Always wanted to learn to play an instrument? Interested in getting back to playing? Want to keep your lips in shape over the summer months? Flute lessons are a great way to develop musical skills at any age.
Lesson Content
If you’ve never played, your first lessons will include:
- How to make a basic sound
- Caring for the flute – putting it together and taking it apart, cleaning and storing
- Finger positioning
- Your first note
If you currently play, please bring what you’ve been working on if you have something and we’ll go from there.
If you haven’t played in awhile and would like to get back into it, just bring yourself! If you have a favorite piece or something you’d like to work on, feel free to bring the music or just your suggestions if you have any.
Location shouldn’t be a deterrent for learning. I offer online lessons as well.
Lesson Length
Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60 minute slots. I recommend beginners to start with 30 minute lessons working up to 45 or 60 minutes as skills progress. For current and returning players, I recommend 45 or 60 minute lessons. All students are suggested to have at least weekly lessons.
Performances
I encourage students to participate in twice yearly recitals where they can share what they’ve learned and sometimes collaborate with other students. Recitals are generally held in November/December and May/June.
